Sonata Arctica is a Finnish melodic power metal band from the town of Kemi, originally assembled in 1996.
The band was founded by Tony Kakko, Jani Liimatainen, Marko Paasikoski, Tommy Portimo and Pentti Peura in Kemi in 1996.The band, originally named Tricky Beans, played songs which were mostly influenced by the hard rock genre and did not approach the power metal genre as such. During their early career, they recorded three demos which were never sent to any recording label — Friend ’till the End, Agre Pamppers and PeaceMaker.

The Punk Rock Movie was assembled from Super 8 camera footage shot by Don Letts, the disc jockey at the Roxy club during the early days of the UK punk rock movement, between 1977 and 1979.
The film captures the energy and vibrancy of this period, and features archive live footage of the bands The Clash, the Sex Pistols, Wayne County & the Electric Chairs, Generation X, Slaughter and the Dogs, The Slits, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Eater, Subway Sect, X-Ray Spex, Alternative TV and The Heartbreakers.

Their name was inspired by a poem written by band member Daron Malakian entitled “Victims of a Down” (commonly mistaken for what is written on the back of their first album). Fellow band member Serj Tankian felt that “System” was a much stronger word.
All four members are of Armenian ethnicity, grandsons of the Armenian Genocide survivors, and are widely known for their outspoken social and political views found in many of their songs. System of a Down is a part of the Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by Tankian and Tom Morello that is dedicated to bringing together musicians, music fans and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.
